Hélène de Beauvoir (1910-2001) began her artistic training at the end of the 1920s at well-known Parisian academies. At the time, she belonged to the circle around her sister Simone and Jean-Paul Sartre.
Her wide-ranging oeuvre moves between cubist-inspired, abstract-crystalline forms and representational elements in prints, watercolors and oils. In her imaginary spaces
She devoted herself to landscape and city impressions, and later increasingly to political subjects, such as the student revolt and feminist themes. The gallery is showing selected works from her estate.
