ARTUR STOLL - DE NORSO

March 24 to June 10, 2017
Opening on March 24, 2017 at 6 pm
Introduction: Franz Armin Morat, Morat Institute Freiburg i. Breisgau

Since the mid-1980s, Artur Stoll has mainly painted in his home town of Norsingen in southern Baden. The gallery shows paintings in which the richly applied paint was first blended layer by layer on the canvas. They depict sections of his parents' farm, the place of his childhood. Works on paper from the 1970s and sculptures from his early work
complement the show. Artur Stoll (1947-2003) studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe. In addition to numerous scholarships (Villa Romana, Villa Massimo) and prizes, he was awarded the Art Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg (sponsorship prize) in 1989.
