Pleasure walk

During the summer and vacation season, Galerie Hanna Bekker vom Rath invites you to take a stroll through expressive and colorful pictorial worlds. The focus is on four slender, portrait-format paintings by Elvira Bach (* 1951) from 1988. Also from the 1980s are colored pencil drawings by Elvira Bach and Salomé (* 1954), who was also one of the so-called "Junge Wilde" and, like Bach, became internationally known as a participant in Documenta 7.

Doro Koidl (* 1943), trained at the Städelschule under Michael Croissant, Karl Bohrmann and Johann Georg Geyger, makes bold color statements. She makes color itself the subject of her painting and uses strong, often garish tones.
Stefan Plenker's (* 1945) life is closely linked to the history of the post-war period in East and West, the building of the Wall and the fall of the Berlin Wall. His artistic work was shaped by an exhibition in China organized by the Centre for Art Exhibitions of the GDR in 1988. Traces of his encounter with calligraphy there can be found in his work from then on.
